Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP)

EANDC Energy Services has been providing weatherization services to low-income families in the East Akron area through our federally-funded program for 17 years. The Home Weatherization Assistance Program increases energy efficiency in the home…. potentially lowering the heating bill and making the home warmer. The HWAP program provides insulation, minor furnace repairs, duct work, air sealing measures, etc. to approximately 60 homes per year. HWAP is also able to provide a limited number of hot water heater replacements and minor electrical work to income eligible households in East Akron. Please call number below for more information.


Electric Partnership Program (EPP)

This is a piggyback program for HWAP funded by First Energy (Ohio Edison) to provide electrical efficiency and some related repairs for owner-occupied low-income households. With safety as a primary concern, this program may assist in a limited number of roof-replacements, electrical repairs/upgrades, and electrical appliance replacements. All eligible households may receive compact fluorescent lighting as well as weatherization 


Community Connections Program (CCP)

This is a piggyback program funded by First Energy (Ohio Edison) to provide electrical efficiency and some related repairs for low-income households. All Roof Replacementeligible households may receive compact fluorescent lighting, electrical appliance replacements and  some weatherization measures. With safety as a primary concern, this program may also assist in a limited number of roof-replacements and electrical repairs/upgrades. Please call number below for more information.

Emergency Home Repair Program (EHRP)

Many low-income homeowners find themselves in need of emergency repairs that threaten the basic stability and safety of their homes. The Emergency Home Repair Program will meet that need. The EHRP will provide low-income individuals and families with repairs that may include: hot water tank replacements; electrical, furnace, plumbing, gas line and/or roof repairs; handicapped railings, grab bars, toilets; etc.

Funded by the Akron Community Foundation, GAR Foundation, Moffitt Family Foundation, Northern Ohio Golf Charities Foundation, and Ohio Department of Development the Emergency Home Repair Program has been providing emergency services for 17 years. Please call number below for more information.


Social Services

EANDC Energy Services continues to offer information and referrals, crisis intervention, coordination of social services and related programs to residents in all our programs.  


HouseWarming Program:

Furnace ReplacementFunded by Dominion East Ohio Gas, EANDC's HouseWarming Program will serve approximately 50 low-income households in the greater East Akron area with furnace replacements, clean and tunes, and sidewall and attic insulation. HouseWarming will install carbon monoxide detectors in every household that we serve. HouseWarming participants must own their home and must meet income guidelines.

After the s your completed application, we will send a Certified Inspector to your home to determine the best way to reduce your gas consumption and heating costs. Once you give the go ahead, professional contractors will install the weatherization measures in your home.
